Sierra Mitchell, Director of Bands |
Sierra Mitchell is a graduate of Eastern Brown High School and Wright State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education, magna cum laude. She studied privately with Mr. John Kurokawa, principal clarinetist of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. At Wright State, she was principal clarinetist in the Wind Symphony and Chamber Orchestra. While at Wright State, Ms. Mitchell earned numerous awards, including being a winner of the 2022 Concerto-Aria Night, runner-up in the 2022 Agnes Fowler Scholarship competition, and a winner of the 2022 3ArtsScholarship Competition. Ms. Mitchell joined Fayetteville-Perry Bands in June of 2023. Previously, she served as a long term substitute music teacher at Northmont High School, visual caption manager / woodwinds at Eastern Brown High School, and worked with various high school marching bands and giving private lessons. Outside of band, Ms. Mitchell enjoys drinking coffee, long walks with friends, spending time with family, and playing synth at her church's worship team. She is professionally affiliated with the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). |
